SHORT BREAST IMPLANT RECOVERY TIME
I think that one of the biggest advancements in breast augmentation surgery over the last decade has been the better understanding of how to do the procedure with a minimum of pain and downtime. In the past, the breast augmentation was done without much concern to the trauma associated with it. Patients would often be debilitated for some time, have higher complication rates and poor results. Since then, we’ve learned that the operation should be done with absolutely no bleeding, great care to avoid trauma to the local tissues and with absolute precision in the placement of the implant.
Approaching breast augmentation this our modern way has allowed the operations to be done with almost no pain and a very quick recovery.
Many of my patients get back to dinner on the night of their procedure. Most patients only note a little bit of tightness of the skin overlying the breasts. If patients need pain medications, it is usually only for a couple of days. I have them begin arm raises immediately after their operation – this helps to stretch out the muscles and reduce inflammation. My practice has many athletes and fitness models, and I have learned that it is appropriate to get back to the gym as soon as you feel okay. I avoid heavy lifting for about the first month and then gradually begin with weights after four weeks. I have my patients avoid running and other very high impact exercises for the first six weeks.
Again, this is in operation that should not significantly impact your life during the recovery phase. It carries a very, very high satisfaction rate.
